About The Tin Soldiers
The Tin Soldiers are Sheffield's own 20-piece party band, playing a variety of cool pop, rock and funky jazz covers in their own unique style featuring American forward-facing drum corps brass instruments.
Boasting a varied repertoire including tunes by Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The White Stripes, Wild Cherry and Herbie Hancock amongst others, they love to make an impact and interact with the crowd and get the party started.
Although the band is comprised of 18 horns, electric bass and drums, they are not your typical brass band. In 2018 the band had an incredible year performing at a number of gigs including: music festivals, weddings, hen nights and corporate events. The highlights of 2018 included two tramlines fringe performances in Barkers Pool - Sheffield, headlining the Saturday Night Sirens Cove stage at the Ynot Festival and supporting Endorphin Machine, a prince tribute band at the Sheffield 02 Academy.
In March of 2018 with the help and guidance from Paradise Hill Productions they recorded their first EP, “Big Noise” in Sheffield's Red Tape studios. In November 2018 they released the EP both in physical and digital formats at their release party at Genting Casino where there were over 300 people in attendance, including the Sheffield Lord Major Magid Magid. During the evening they also managed to raise over £570 for their chosen charity Weston Park.
In October 2018 the Soldiers along with their film maker, Pale Raven Pictures, produced a music video featuring the title track of their EP “Big Noise” (a gangster-inspired video that riffs on the old joke: An Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman all walk into a bar). They were voted runners up (out of 17) by the grand jury in the “two weeks to make it” music video competition hosted by the South Yorkshire Film Network.
